About Me

Maria Katayama is the founder of KumoHaven, a co-hosting company dedicated to helping property owners maximize their rental income across platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com — while ensuring every guest feels truly at home.

After taking an early retirement from law enforcement, Maria followed her lifelong passion for entrepreneurship, design, and hospitality. The discipline and integrity she developed in public service now guide every aspect of KumoHaven’s approach — creating spaces that are not only well-managed but deeply welcoming.

Raised in England and Canada before settling in the United States, Maria brings an international, multicultural perspective to every stay. With parents who were traveling medical professionals, she learned early on the importance of finding housing that is clean, secure, and trustworthy — values that remain at the heart of KumoHaven’s mission today.

Before founding KumoHaven, Maria co-founded Cloud Craft Studios, an award-winning videography and photography company where she honed her creative eye for storytelling and design. She also worked at Apple, developing technical expertise and a commitment to world-class customer service — experience she now channels into optimizing both the guest and host experience.

Today, KumoHaven operates across the United States and Canada, supported by a multilingual team fluent in English, French, Portuguese, and Japanese. Their global perspective helps them connect seamlessly with guests from around the world and anticipate the needs of international travelers. Beyond management, KumoHaven empowers property owners for long-term success by crafting standout listings, arranging professional photography, and providing curated local recommendations that make every stay unforgettable.

Maria and her team blend warmth, professionalism, and precision to deliver a seamless, stress-free experience for both hosts and guests — where hospitality meets peace of mind.
